Panama's Ministry of Health Establishes Technical Council for Medicinal Cannabis

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) formally established yesterday the Technical Council for Medicinal Cannabis to reinforce Law 242 of October 13, 2021, which regulates the medicinal and therapeutic use of cannabis and its derivatives in the Republic of Panama. The entity highlighted that this body aims to strengthen the governance of the system, ensure transparency in processes, and guarantee that the development of medicinal cannabis in Panama is carried out under strict quality standards. Minsa states that this council will meet ordinarily once a month and may call extraordinary meetings when circumstances require it, in addition to establishing its own operational statutes. It will be composed of representatives from various state institutions and civil society, ensuring a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to decision-making.
