An eighth-grade student was shot on Tuesday afternoon at the educational center in the community of Villa del Caribe, in the Cristóbal Este district of the Colón province. Several shots were heard, causing panic among neighbors and passersby, who ran for cover to avoid being hit by bullets. The injured student was then observed and assisted by the National Police, who arrived at the scene. He was transported to the emergency room of Dr. Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital in the Cristóbal Este district for treatment. While specialized criminal investigation agents arrived at the area, they cordoned off the entire perimeter to learn all the details of the violent incident, which occurred just meters from the Villa del Caribe educational center. One version is that there was an exchange of fire between gang members, which is under investigation.
