The Ministry of Women of Panama plans to acquire around 50 electronic bracelets and panic devices as part of a pilot plan aimed at combating domestic violence in the country. Minister Niurka Palacios explained that these devices will be linked to an application that can be downloaded not only by the victim but also by trusted individuals or competent authorities.
According to Palacios, the technology of these devices will allow for a quicker response to emergency situations related to gender violence. In this way, the goal is to provide greater protection to victims and prevent cases of domestic violence.
The electronic bracelets and panic devices will be part of a comprehensive system that will include training for the personnel responsible for monitoring alerts and coordinating the care of victims. The minister emphasized the importance of implementing innovative and technological measures to address gender violence in the country.
Additionally, it is expected that the Ministry of Women will establish partnerships with other institutions and organizations to strengthen this pilot plan and expand its reach in the fight against domestic violence. In the words of Minister Palacios, the acquisition of these devices represents an important step in the protection of women's rights and in the prevention of gender violence in Panama.
