The Ministry of Environment (MiAmbiente) of Panama has managed to resolve 198 environmental impact studies that were pending. Of these, 10 were not accepted, five were rejected, and two expired.
According to MiAmbiente authorities, the resolution of the studies that were overdue is of vital importance to ensure the protection of the environment in the country. Environmental impact studies are a fundamental tool for assessing the possible effects that certain activities or projects may have on the natural environment.
One of the officials from MiAmbiente highlighted the importance of the timely review of these studies to make informed decisions about the viability of projects. It was also emphasized the need to comply with established procedures to ensure environmental sustainability in Panama.
The resolution of these 198 environmental impact studies is a significant step in strengthening environmental management in the country and demonstrates the commitment of the authorities to the protection of natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
