The budget allocated for medications and medical supplies in 2024 amounted to B/. 314,471,256 and is expected to increase to B/. 319,457,500 for the year 2025. The Social Security Fund (CSS) has confirmed that there will be no cuts in the procurement of medications and supplies for the upcoming year.

According to official statements, the CSS is committed to ensuring the continuous supply of essential medications and medical supplies for its members. This increase in the budget, despite financial difficulties, reflects the institution's commitment to prioritizing the health care and well-being of its insured.

"The health of our population is an indisputable priority, and that is why we have allocated these funds to ensure that there are no shortages of necessary medications and supplies in our facilities," said the CSS spokesperson. This measure aims to guarantee the quality of care and strengthen the health system in Panama amid current challenges.
