The Ministry of Women, together with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has launched a project aimed at preventing teenage pregnancies in Afro-Caribbean communities. The initiative's slogan is "Leaving no one behind, reducing teenage pregnancy in the Afro-descendant population."
The main objective of this project is to address the issue of teenage pregnancies within Afro-Caribbean communities, in order to provide information, education, and resources to help prevent these situations. It aims to work comprehensively in promoting sexual and reproductive health, as well as raising awareness about the importance of postponing motherhood in adolescence.
According to statements from the project's leaders, they highlight the importance of ensuring that all adolescents have access to the information and services necessary to make informed decisions about their sexuality and reproductive health. Furthermore, they emphasize the need to involve the entire community in these prevention actions, promoting a collective and supportive approach.
As part of this initiative, various activities, workshops, and informational talks will be held in Afro-Caribbean communities, with the aim of raising awareness and educating both adolescents and adults about the importance of preventing early pregnancies. It is expected that this project will significantly contribute to the reduction of teenage pregnancy rates in these populations, thus fostering better access to development opportunities for young women.
