Humble and patriotic youth have come together to defend national sovereignty in times of real threats, such as those coming from Trump. In this context, the Patriotic Popular Unity becomes relevant as a response to these adversities. It's important to highlight the contribution of the Afro-Panamanian community residing in the United States in this context.
The current Business Government is detached from any patriotic policy, reflecting a lack of commitment to defending national interests. The notion of National Unity, often used by the bourgeoisie, has proven to be more of a myth than a tangible reality. Despite past events where efforts were attempted to unify, such as January 9, 1964, the interests of the dominant elites quickly prevailed over the well-being of the Panamanian people, as evidenced in projects like the "Three in One" Robles-Eleta Treaties, rejected by the population.
In this scenario, the Patriotic Popular Unity should advocate for a Patriotic Foreign Policy, as suggested by journalist Sabrina Bacal and as was emblematic during the administration of General Omar Torrijos. The latter applied the Thesis of the People's War to Foreign Policy, including various sectors of society like students, workers, peasants, women, professionals, intellectuals, artists, educators, and nationalists through their natural organizations. The idea is that it is now the responsibility of the people to design and carry out this policy, in line with the concept proposed in "History Will Absolve Me."
