The Assembly has summoned the Minister of Environment, Milciades Concepción, to explain the orderly closure plan of Minera Panamá, located in the province of Colón.
Concepción must present to the deputies the details of the actions that will be carried out to ensure an adequate closure of the mine, respecting the environment and the safety of the local population.
"It is important that clear and effective measures are established to mitigate any negative impact in the area and ensure that all environmental regulations are followed," said the president of the Assembly, Marcos Castillero.
The closure of Minera Panamá has generated concern in the community, so it is expected that the minister's appearance will shed light on the process and the guarantees that will be taken to protect the natural environment and the people living in the region.
