MOCA Supports Mulino Amid Trump's Threats

The Movement Another Path issued a statement supporting President José Raúl Mulino's position regarding the intentions of the United States to take the Panama Canal. In light of the attacks and verbal threats expressed by the President of the United States and representatives of his government, the Movement Another Path supports President Mulino's words as they represent the national sentiment in a timely, dignified, and correct manner. It encourages the refutation of each of the fallacies conveyed by the President of the United States about the Panama Canal and advocates for a civic education campaign to clarify the historical and legal truth about Panama's sovereign rights.

The statement also denounces that the United States lacks the legal capacity to unilaterally dispose of the Neutrality Treaty through an internal congressional law. Furthermore, it rejects any attempt by the United States to take the Panama Canal through military force, which would be considered a flagrant violation of International Law. The Movement Another Path supports and encourages a determined diplomatic defense implemented by Panamanian authorities and the foreign service to protect Panama's sovereignty over the Canal, backing the consistency and legal solidity of the Neutrality Treaty against any attempt to dismiss or ignore it.

In this context, a call is made for the unity of the Panamanian people, regardless of political, social, economic, or ideological banners, in this process of patriotic reclamation. The importance of supporting the positive and necessary leadership that the President of the Republic must exercise is highlighted. In the face of such a delicate issue, it is emphasized that there should be no room for political banners or internal differences, but rather that all sectors should unite in defense and national unity.
