The Mundo Movement is requesting reforms within Project 163, which is currently in the first debate in the Labor and Health Commission of the National Assembly. In particular, they are asking for a loan portfolio for retirees and pensioners, as well as an end to the shortage of medications. Guillermo Cortez, the movement's leader, expressed his discontent, stating that the promises of solutions are just empty words.
In Project 163, the Mundo Movement of America seeks timely medical attention and the modification of Article 144, which adjusts pensions annually according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) starting in 2029. Cortez, 77 years old, highlighted that they do not agree with this provision and have communicated their stance to the relevant authorities.
Cortez emphasized that, although their focus is not on street protests, they are prepared to act if President Mulino dismisses their claims. He proposed that the necessary funds could come from the money allocated to Social Security, mentioning that the amount of CPI for 2024 would not be significant in comparison. Regarding rumors of possible delays in payments, the leader urged to remain calm, assuring that pensions will be covered.
In a calm tone, Cortez called on supporters to address these issues seriously, focusing on their specific demands without resorting to unnecessary confrontations in the streets. He stressed that the movement is not opposed to the reforms per se, but seeks to make them beneficial for retirees and pensioners.
