Low Participation in the Popular Party of Panama

Lawyer Javier Quiroz criticizes the low participation in the Popular Party, holding the current leadership responsible and demanding changes to recover the party's identity.

Low Participation in the Popular Party of Panama

Lawyer Javier Quiroz, a recognized member of the Popular Party, expressed his concern about the low participation facing the political collective, directly pointing to the current leadership as responsible for this situation. According to Quiroz, the decision to allow Martin Torrijos to run as a presidential candidate for the Popular Party, accepting his condition that they would only support members of the PRD, marked a turning point within the party.

"When they allowed Martin Torrijos to run for our party, and he demanded that only PRD members would be candidates, all the leaders of the Popular Party had to accept that crazy decision," affirmed Quiroz, highlighting that this measure sidelined the grassroots of the collective and affected the party's identity. The lawyer made an urgent call to correct these practices and regain the direction of the party.

"The grassroots demand that this changes, to have our identity, to be stellar and not a lagging party," emphasized Javier Quiroz. He also stressed that the party members in West Panama are committed to fighting for their autonomy and recognition. Quiroz pointed out that leaders and militants have decided to remain in the party and work consciously to ensure that the rights of their candidates are respected.

He also criticized the interference of outsiders in internal decisions, describing it as an obstacle that severely affects the true members. "We do not understand how the current leader of the party says he does not control it," added Quiroz.

The lawyer urged the leadership of the Popular Party to reflect and eliminate the barriers that hinder active participation of its members. "We want to record that the members of the Popular Party in West Panama demand and will fight for their own identity. This low participation has a clear origin, and it is time to correct the course," concluded Javier Quiroz.
