The President of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, met with the National Council of Foreign Relations to discuss the administration of the Panama Canal and migration through Darién.


President Mulino meets with the National Council

The President of the Republic of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, held a meeting last Monday, January 27, with members of the National Council on Foreign Relations and with ambassadors from the UN, OAS, and the Ambassador of Panama in Washington, Ana Irene Delgado, Eloy Alfaro, and José Miguel Alemán.

In this meeting, which also involved former President Aristides Royo and Adolfo Ahumada, international relevance topics were discussed. Particularly, the administration of the Panama Canal and the migration situation in the Darién region were addressed. President Mulino emphasized that the canal is being managed efficiently by Panamanian hands and that the crisis in Darién has been stabilized.

In addition to the mentioned ambassadors, Ministers Juan Carlos Orillac, Felipe Chapman, and José Ramón Icaza, from the Presidency, Economy and Finance, and Canal Affairs, respectively, were present at the meeting.

The Council on Foreign Relations, which advises the Central Government on international matters, includes prominent figures such as Carlos Cordero, Aníbal Galindo, Enrique Illueca, Héctor Infante, among others.

In the words of President Mulino: 'The canal is managed efficiently by Panamanian hands and the crisis in Darién has been stabilized.' The meeting was a key space to address various aspects of foreign policy and international matters of importance for Panama.
