
The board of the International Network of Legal Excellence met with the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) in Panama, where the request for assistance was discussed in order to convince the witnesses of the Odebrecht hearing to come to the country and hold the trial. The president of the CSJ, María Eugenia López, explained that due to the lack of response to the requested international legal assistance, four hearings could not be held, including the one scheduled for January 20.
During the meeting, a call was made to the representatives of the International Network of Legal Excellence to communicate the situation to their respective judicial authorities and expedite international cooperation processes. The importance of promoting dialogue and knowledge exchange between countries to improve the administration of justice was emphasized.
The representatives of the Panamanian judicial system presented the Institutional Strategic Plan 2020-2030, focused on the effective resolution of conflicts, access to justice, institutional strengthening, and consolidation of the institutional image. It was highlighted that these pillars seek to address the difficulties of the judicial system and improve the service provided to citizens, with a focus on human rights and due process.
The president of the Supreme Court of Justice mentioned that the implementation of the Judicial Career in all its categories is a priority for building quality, equitable, and accessible justice. The meeting was described as a valuable opportunity to share good practices, strengthen technical knowledge, and reinforce ties between jurisdictions in the region.
The Supreme Court thanked the attendees and reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting independent, impartial, reliable, and excellent justice.
