US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held talks on Sunday with Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino to confirm the "partnership and strategic cooperation" between the two countries.
Robinson stated that his visit to Panama is aimed at reinforcing US support for the members of the Lima regional group, which was created to address the crisis in democracy in Venezuela. The minister also expressed gratitude for the partnership in the fight against narcotrafficking and called for joint efforts against authoritarianism.
"It’s important for Americans to know that you are among friends and it’s important for our friends to understand how much we value this," he emphasized.
Pompeo expressed hope that the US and Panama will continue their fruitful cooperation in the fight against narcotrafficking and other threats.
