The Colonense Lawyers' Front has filed a lawsuit before the Third Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of Panama against the new tax regime of the Colón Mayor's Office.
According to the group of lawyers, the new tax regime implemented by the Colón Mayor's Office is considered unconstitutional and violates the rights of taxpayers. They argue that the imposed tax rates are excessive and have not been established in accordance with what the law stipulates.
In the words of a representative of the Colonense Lawyers' Front: "We are challenging this new tax regime as we believe it violates constitutional principles and negatively affects the citizens of Colón."
The lawsuit seeks the nullity of the new tax system and requests a review to establish rates that are fair and in line with the law. This case has generated great interest in the community, which is awaiting a resolution from the Supreme Court of Justice.
