The Attorney General of the Nation, Luis Gómez, stated that an investigation is underway regarding the disturbances that occurred on Avenida Balboa, where clashes took place between protesters and police units. Gómez affirmed that they are in the initial stage of reviewing videos and analyzing images to determine responsibilities and jurisdiction.
"It is our duty, according to the law, to investigate any situation that poses a common danger in criminal activities," declared Gómez. He also revealed that some police officers suffered serious injuries that will be considered in the investigation.
Authorities continue to collect evidence to clarify what happened and take appropriate legal measures. Gómez explained that the case could involve a crime against collective security, but they are awaiting more information and results of medical evaluations to define possible crimes.
"We are verifying the situation of the injured individuals, both civilians and members of the public force, to determine the classification of possible crimes," highlighted the Attorney General. Depending on the findings, the case could be referred to peace judges or other competent courts.
