Violent protests by the Suntracs union took place at the new Children's Hospital facilities. The clashes resulted in more than 400 workers being detained and 15 police officers injured.
According to project authorities, work at the hospital could resume next week. Despite the disturbances that occurred, construction is expected to proceed normally in the coming days.
"We are committed to completing this important health project for the benefit of the community," said the hospital spokesperson. "We trust that once calm is restored, we will be able to resume work and meet the established deadlines."
The violence unleashed during the protests has raised concerns in public opinion, which hopes that the parties involved can reach an agreement to avoid future confrontations.
