The Minister of Security, Frank Ábrego, reported that 299 migrants deported from the United States are currently in Panama. Of that total, 171 of them have agreed to return to their home countries.
According to Ábrego, Panamanian authorities are making all necessary arrangements to ensure the return of these migrants to their places of origin. Additionally, humanitarian assistance is being provided to those who require it.
Regarding this situation, the minister emphasized: "We are working together with the relevant migration agencies to coordinate these deportations safely and orderly."
This news comes in a context where migration continues to be a relevant issue globally, and Panama is not exempt from this reality. The arrival of deported migrants presents challenges and compels authorities to seek effective solutions that respect human rights.
