Panama Rejects Visit of Orlando Gutierrez Boronat

The Government of Panama stirs controversy by receiving the visit of terrorist Orlando Gutiérrez Boronat, known for his defense of the far-right in the United States. The Minister of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Orillac, was the one who welcomed him, unleashing criticism from various sectors of Panamanian society.

The National Workers' Central of Panama (CNTP) expressed its outright rejection of Gutiérrez Boronat's presence in the country, denouncing his activities against the Cuban people and government through the Cuban Democratic Directory, a counter-revolutionary organization.

In a statement, the CNTP expressed its repudiation of the Panamanian government's actions in providing space and support to an individual linked to violent actions and contrary to the principles of peace, solidarity, and anti-imperialism that should prevail in the country.

"Cuba is not alone!" and "End the genocidal blockade against Cuba!" are some of the slogans heard from critics of Gutiérrez Boronat's presence in Panama. The incoherence of welcoming a figure with a confessed history of terrorism in a territory promoted as a zone of peace and solidarity was highlighted.

The visit of Orlando Gutiérrez Boronat provoked division and rejection in Panama, highlighting the political and ethical tensions surrounding the country's relations with the conservative far-right and its stance towards Cuba.
