
The Government of Panama and the National Assembly are in negotiations to carry out reforms to the Social Security Fund system. Among the proposals, the increase of the retirement age is being discussed, although it has not yet been confirmed whether the second debate on these reforms will be completed before the start of the carnival.
According to sources from the Executive, one of the main modifications under discussion is to raise the retirement age, which has generated intense debate among the members of the National Assembly. However, before proceeding to vote on each article, a detailed evaluation of all proposed modifications will be conducted.
In this regard, a government representative stated: "It is essential to carefully analyze each proposed change to ensure that reforms to the CSS are beneficial for all citizens." Additionally, it is expected that once negotiations are finalized, a final review of the proposals will be conducted before proceeding to the vote in the National Assembly.
Despite the importance of these reforms, a definitive date for the conclusion of negotiations and the voting in the Assembly has not yet been established. However, both parties remain in constant dialogue with the aim of reaching agreements that improve the social security system in the country.
