Panama has expelled 25 Colombian migrants who entered the country illegally. Some of them had criminal records. The measure was taken by the National Migration Service (SNM) after verifying that they did not meet the legal requirements to remain in Panamanian territory.
According to official reports, the migrants were arrested in different provinces of Panama and subsequently deported to Colombia. Panamanian authorities indicated that they are actively working to identify and expel individuals who are illegally in the country.
The director of the SNM, Carlos Landero, explained that some of the expelled migrants had criminal backgrounds, which poses a threat to the safety of Panama and its population. Landero emphasized the importance of maintaining migration control to ensure peace and order in the country.
Amid the migration crisis in the region, Panama has reinforced its security measures at the borders and is working together with other countries to combat irregular migration and transnational crime. The expulsion of these 25 Colombian migrants is part of the Panamanian government's efforts to protect its borders and maintain the rule of law in the country.
