The President of the Republic of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, met with his counterpart from Paraguay, Santiago Peña, during the inauguration of the new president of Uruguay, Yamandú Orsi. During the meeting, the adhesion of Panama to Mercosur as an Associated State was discussed, which is considered an opportunity for both nations.
Peña expressed that his government will provide all necessary support to Panama in this process of integration into Mercosur, a bloc of countries that is one of the largest economies in the world. Mulino, for his part, reiterated Panama's support for Paraguay's candidacy, represented by Jorge Lara, for the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS).
Both leaders concluded the meeting highlighting the willingness of both parties to continue with plans for mutual cooperation. The collaboration between Panama and Paraguay on these issues has been reaffirmed, demonstrating a commitment to strengthen regional integration and cooperation among Latin American countries.
