Reflections on Modern Slavery and Morality

Currently, crimes and immorality are exalted and presented as examples to follow, while decency, morality, and criminality seem to coexist. Jairo Pertuz S., journalist and international analyst, reflects on the lack of moral principles and critical thinking in society, which has led to dehumanization and the practice of increasingly sophisticated forms of slavery in the supposed democracy.

In this context, it is observed how manipulation and subjugation involve not only the life and body of individuals but also their thinking and intelligence. Education, instead of being an instrument for progress and freedom, becomes a vehicle for perversion in this new version of slavery, where falseness and hypocrisy are exalted as virtues.

This path towards modern slavery, according to Pertuz, leads us to a hell where small elites have the power to influence and decide on the lives of others. Impunity and abuses mix with the idea of justice, creating a system where the interests of a few prevail over the rights and dignity of the majority.

Furthermore, the narrative highlights how nature is exploited without consideration, and the resources that should be for the enjoyment of all are destroyed without remorse. In light of this situation, the author questions what more can be demanded from humanity as a whole.
