The Minister of Government, Dinoska Montalvo, met with the directors of all the penitentiary centers in the country with the aim of implementing significant changes in the Penitentiary System.
During the meeting, Montalvo stated: "We are going to shake up the Penitentiary System." This declaration expresses the determination of the Government of Panama to address the existing problems in the prisons and seek effective solutions.
The minister emphasized the importance of improving conditions within the penitentiary centers, as well as ensuring safety for both staff and inmates. The need to combat corruption and promote the social reintegration of prisoners was underscored.
Additionally, strategies were discussed to modernize and optimize the operation of the prisons, in order to achieve more efficient and transparent management. Montalvo emphasized that efforts will be made in close collaboration with all parties involved to achieve the necessary changes in the Penitentiary System.
This meeting marks the beginning of a reform process aimed at transforming the prison system in Panama and improving the living conditions of those who are deprived of liberty.
