Scammers have once again impersonated the Panamanian president, José Raúl Mulino, this time sending fraudulent messages through the messaging application Telegram.
In the messages, the criminals pose as the Panamanian president and request money donations on behalf of various charitable causes. They use the name and image of José Raúl Mulino to give an appearance of legitimacy to their deceptions.
Authorities have warned citizens about this new type of scam and urged them not to be deceived by these fraudulent messages. They remind the population that President Mulino does not request money through messaging applications or social media.
"It is important to stay alert and always verify the authenticity of donation requests before making any type of money transfer," stated a spokesperson for the Presidency of Panama.
