New Book Analyses Panama Canal and Trump Threats

The Research Center of the Faculty of Humanities (CIFHU) of the University of Panama has presented the book "The Panama Canal Facing the Threats of Trump." The work is a compilation by professors Olmedo Beluche and Abdiel Rodríguez Reyes, and it is prefaced by Dr. Olmedo García Ch., dean of Humanities.

The book contains essays that analyze the geopolitical situation of the Panama Canal in the context of the statements and policies of U.S. President Donald Trump. Among the Panamanian personalities reflecting on the threats and fallacies expressed by President Trump regarding the Panama Canal are Julio Yao Villalaz, Diógenes Sánchez, Vilma Chiriboga, Juan Jované, Enoch Adames, Anayansi Turner, Ramón H. Benjamín, Jorge González, Félix Villarreal, Mario Enrique De León, Samuel Prado Franco, and the compilers, Abdiel Rodríguez Reyes and Olmedo Beluche.

The book has been presented with the urgency that the situation demands, to serve as a tool in the fight to defend national sovereignty against the renewed Trumpist Monroe doctrine, but also as a tool in the fight for a canal that serves the Panamanian people, taking it out of the hands of the corrupt oligarchy that controls the board of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) and siphons its resources.

In the coming weeks, a printed quantity of the book will be available, which can currently be found on the CIFHU website in the publications section.
