The Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama urges all officials to fully cooperate with the Comptroller's Office and to take concrete actions to promote transparency and efficiency in the use of state resources. They assert that it is essential to put an end to practices such as inflated payrolls, unjustified payments, and appointments based on political favors, which waste public resources and leave real needs unaddressed.
In a Sunday message, the Chamber's president, Juan Arias, highlights the importance of audits conducted by the Comptroller's Office in the Assembly and suggests that these be extended to all state bodies. He calls on the Comptroller's Office, the Assembly, and the Executive to work together to eradicate corrupt practices and punish those who commit them, with the aim of building a more efficient and transparent state.
The Chamber applauds the actions taken so far, but emphasizes the need for rigorous oversight throughout the public sector, including the Executive Branch and autonomous entities. It stresses the importance of ensuring that public money is used responsibly and efficiently, punishing those who take advantage of the system.
In this regard, the necessity of acting decisively to promote justice, competitiveness, and prosperity in the country is highlighted. All public servants are called upon to commit to transparency and efficiency in the management of state resources, with the conviction that Panama deserves responsible institutions and a budget that truly benefits the population.
