The Ministry of Education has stated that closing an educational center with a lock or by force constitutes an act of assault and a crime punishable by law. This action severely affects the children of the communities where the school in question is located.
The Minister of Canal Affairs, José Ramón Icaza, has responded to this situation, highlighting the importance of ensuring access to education for all children and young people, and strongly condemning any attempt to illegally close an educational center.
In Icaza's words: "Education is a fundamental right of all Panamanian children, and as a Government, we must ensure its protection and access to it. Any act that seeks to obstruct this right must be rejected and strongly penalized."
These statements come amid concerns over reported cases of illegal school closures in different regions of the country, which has generated uncertainty and discomfort among the affected communities.
