Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

During a commemorative event in San Miguelito, Russian Ambassador Konstantin Gavrilov highlighted cultural ties with Panama and reaffirmed Russia's commitment to combat fascism.

In commemoration of the eightieth anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War, the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Panama, Konstantin Gavrilov, emphasized Russia's firm stance against fascism and neofascism that threaten global stability and peace. He stressed Russia's determination to combat these evils that conspire against life on the planet, promising that the crimes of neo-Nazis will not go unpunished.

During his speech, Gavrilov recalled that during World War II, around 27 million Soviet citizens, including women, men, and children, sacrificed their lives in the fight against fascism and the expansion of its ideals. The ambassador highlighted the importance of this contribution in defense of humanity and to contain the fascist threat that prevailed at that time.

The ambassador also mentioned the celebrations that were taking place in Moscow and other Russian cities in honor of the historic date, with military parades and acts of solidarity. He noted that if Adolf Hitler and the Nazis had prevailed in World War II, humanity would have faced a division based on superior and inferior races, endangering entire sectors of the population, such as Jews, Roma, Slavs, and Chinese.

On another note, Ambassador Gavrilov mentioned current attempts by certain forces to undermine the legacy of Russia's victory in World War II. He stated that these sectors seek to replace international law with neocolonial practices disguised as a supposed rules-based order, designed to favor their interests.

Emphasizing Russia's commitment to humanity, the ambassador concluded his speech reiterating his country's determination to oppose fascism and neofascism, protecting stability and peace globally.
