On Tuesday, the Cabinet Council approved the appointments of two new Supreme Court substitute magistrates. Through Cabinet Resolution No. 121-25, Guimara Darcel Aparicio Ortega has been appointed as a substitute magistrate in the First Civil Chamber; while with Cabinet Resolution No. 122-25, the appointment of a substitute magistrate for the Third Administrative and Labor Chamber falls to Juan Carlos Tatis Castillo. The appointed substitute magistrate, Guimara Darcel Aparicio Ortega, graduated in Law and Political Science from the University of Panama, Sigma Lambda Honor Chapter, in 1990. Additionally, she holds a Master's degree in Private Law with a specialization in Civil Liability from the same institution. She served as director of the Weekly Journal of Legal Systems and has provided legal consulting to various national law firms. Likewise, she held the position of Assistant Magistrate to the Supreme Court of Justice in the Third Chamber. She was a Circuit Court Judge for the First Judicial Circuit of Panama, in the First Judicial District. She also served as a substitute Personal Magistrate for the First Superior Court of the First Judicial District. She currently serves as a magistrate for the First Superior Court of the Judicial Branch. The appointed substitute magistrate, Juan Carlos Tatis Castillo, is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Panama, also from the 1990 generation. He has been a municipal judge in PocrÃ, Los Santos province; Twelfth Civil Circuit Judge of the First Judicial Circuit, magistrate of the First Superior Court of the First Judicial District, and to date, he served as a magistrate of the Fourth Superior Court of the First Judicial District, in the Insolvency Jurisdiction. He was a member of the drafting commission that prepared the draft of the current Law 12 of May 19, 2016, which establishes the Regime of Insolvency Concursal Processes and other provisions. With these cabinet resolutions, substitutes are assigned to the main magistrates Gisela Agurto (Third Chamber of Administrative and Labor Litigation) and Carlos Villalobos (First Civil Chamber).
