Panama announced that Venezuela has arrested a suspect on its territory in connection with the 1994 bombing of a Panamanian passenger plane, which was attributed to Hezbollah and resulted in the deaths of 21 people, mostly Jews. According to a statement by the Panamanian Police, confirmed by the Interpol office in Caracas, the Venezuelan citizen Ali Zaki Hajjali was arrested. Flight 901 operated by the airline 'Alas Chiricanas' exploded shortly after taking off from an airport in the Colon province on the night of July 19, 1994. All passengers on board were killed, mostly from the Jewish community in this Central American country, including three Americans. The Panamanian Police reported that the arrest took place on November 6.
