A Panamanian judge, Irene Cedeño, ordered the detention of ten foreigners after an operation that shook the country. The detainees are accused of trafficking as much as 13.5 tons of cocaine, one of the largest seizures in years. The charges were filed by the Drugs Prosecutor, Juan Gutiérrez, while the defense of the detainees was handled by Roberto Moreno, Héctor Bonilla, and Martha Restrepo. The investigation began on November 9th after agents from the National Air-Sea Service (SENAN), during a maritime patrol, intercepted the vessel 'Oceanic Tuge' in the Las Perlas archipelago. During the operation, crew members from Ecuador, Nicaragua, Peru, Colombia, and Venezuela were captured, with Mexico as their final destination.
