In Panama, provisional detention was applied as a precautionary measure to a 24-year-old man linked to an attempted homicide that occurred this September in the Vista Alegre community, Cativá district, Colón province.

The incident took place in the afternoon of September 17, 2024, when the suspect, accompanied by other unidentified individuals and carrying a firearm, approached the residence of a citizen who was outside and fired multiple shots at him, before fleeing into a wooded area.

This individual was apprehended on November 11, 2024, in the La Feria community, Cristóbal Este district, after being sought by the Homicide Prosecutor's Office for the crime against life and personal integrity.

Subsequently, he was presented before a guarantees judge, where officials from the Specialized Homicide and Femicide Section of the Colón and Guna Yala Regional Prosecutor's Office managed to demonstrate his participation in the event.

During the hearing, the Colón and Guna Yala Regional Prosecutor's Office also requested the Guarantees Court to legalize the apprehension and formulate charges against the citizen for the crime against life and personal integrity in the form of attempted homicide, requests that were admitted by the judge.
