The general director of the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (Imelcf), José Vicente Pachar, resigned from his position after more than 30 years of service with the entity. In his letter of resignation, addressed to the Attorney General of the Nation, Luis Gómez, Pachar indicated that his decision to leave the post is due to strictly personal circumstances, thus concluding a significant and deeply enriching stage of his professional life. Pachar reiterated his commitment to collaborate with the person who succeeds him to ensure an orderly and effective transition of the General Directorate. He said he felt honored to have directed an institution fundamental to investigations and the administration of justice in Panama, to whose development, growth, and projection at both the national and international levels he contributed with effort and dedication. During this period, Pachar served as a forensic pathologist, deputy director of Forensic Medicine, and general director. The Imelcf board of directors chose Abdiel Abel Rentería Ramos as the new director, who has a long career in the forensic field. He will assume the post in December until the year 2030. In turn, he requested that all his labor rights and benefits be paid, including 50% in concept of exclusivity.
