Nicaraguan Ambassador Visits Omar Torrijos Herrera Municipality

The Nicaraguan Embassy in Panama visited the Omar Torrijos Herrera Municipality to strengthen bilateral ties. Ambassador Carlos Midence was warmly welcomed by the mayor and city council, discussed local culture, and invited the Nicaraguan delegation to the annual Buffalo Fair.

The Embassy of Nicaragua in Panama, on behalf of the Good Government of National Reconciliation and Unity and the Nicaraguan people, made an official, courtesy, and working visit to the Mayor's Office of Omar Torrijos Herrera Municipality in the province of Colón. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen ties and explore forms of solidarity cooperation. At the municipal headquarters, our Ambassador, comrade Carlos Midence, was received by Mayor Eulalio Yángüez Ruiz and the full Municipal Council. The mayor gave the ambassador a tour of the Omar Torrijos House Museum, where the general resided for several years. The ambassador conveyed information about our Advances and Achievements on behalf of the Good Government Sandinista, led by our co-presidents: Commander Daniel Ortega and Comrade Rosario Murillo, and the People of Nicaragua, and thanked them for the warm and affectionate welcome, as tangible proof of the vital brotherhood between our peoples. The mayor also commented on the culture and customs of the municipality, as well as significant dates, activities, and events, and extended an invitation to our Embassy to participate in and promote Nicaragua at the Buffalo Fair, an event held in February. This municipality, where General Omar Torrijos lived and which bears his name as a tribute to his towering figure in Panamanian sovereignty and nationalism, has a diverse economy: mining, agriculture, crafts, and commerce. The mayor cordially welcomed the ambassador and thanked him for his visit, which is of significant importance due to General Torrijos' connection to our Sandinista Popular Revolution. The mayor also invited the ambassador to deliver a greeting during the Municipal Council session.
