The Revolutionary Democratic Party (PRD) is ready for the elections, where 300 directors will vote to fill five vacant seats on the National Executive Committee (CEN).
According to party spokesman Edwin Aparicio, if everything goes smoothly, once the results are final, the president of the PRD would convene the first meeting of the renewed CEN in the following weeks. However, Aparicio recalled that it is first necessary to wait for the Electoral Tribunal's timeline and verify that no last-minute appeals are filed.
He added that this election not only "orders the house" but also "contributes to the country's democracy". Once the winners are known, they can take office immediately, as all positions are vacant.
The meeting will be short but decisive: from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., a long enough time to make internal moves within the party.
For this internal contest, the PRD has set up 10 polling tables, each with 30 directors, where the positions of General Secretary, First and Second Vice-Presidency, First Subsecretary, and Sixth Subsecretary will be chosen.
The party's spokesman, Edwin Aparicio, assured that the internal campaign was "of high quality," with 45 aspirants who came out to ask for the vote with concrete proposals.
