Benicio Robinson Accuses Martín Torrijos of Treason

Deputy Benicio Robinson, during a party process, called Martín Torrijos and his supporters traitors to the memory of General Omar Torrijos, calling for unity in the Revolutionary Democratic Party (PRD).

Benicio Robinson launched a few barbs this Sunday during the internal process held by the Revolutionary Democratic Party (PRD). One of those barbs was aimed directly at former President Martín Torrijos. Robinson also had words for Javier Ortega, who has said that Benicio is the capo of the PRD. 'He resigned, he is a traitor, and all those who are with him are traitors to the memory of the general,' he stated. On the other hand, he advocated for party unity. Robinson recalled that General Omar Torrijos is the maximum leader of the collective, not the Torrijos surname as such. In this sense, the deputy emphasized that the former president is a traitor, just like all those who are with him. He also stressed that in Bocas del Toro, Ortega has not even made it to corregidor, while he has been elected for 45 years: 'it means they want this capo,' he stated. Along these lines, he said that the collective belongs to all and together they must come to power. Robinson chalked up a victory this Sunday, as he was backing the candidacy of engineer Herrera. 'Martín Torrijos is not PRD.' 'He is supposed to be a defender of the party. They sent him to seek guidance. He must seek guidance himself,' he stated. 'A defender does not go to the media to talk about his members.'
