Eight Public Servants Sanctioned in Panama for Ethics Violations

Panama's National Transparency Authority (Antai) sanctioned eight public officials from various institutions for violating the Public Servant's Code of Ethics, including nepotism and using work hours for private activities.


The National Decentralization Authority was also investigated, where a regional director was sanctioned for working alongside a first-degree blood relative. At the Agricultural Development Bank, two officials were sanctioned for nepotism practices, one of them with a recommendation for immediate dismissal due to direct kinship with the general manager. Antai reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring ethics, transparency, and compliance with the rules that govern the conduct of public servants. In the General Revenue Directorate, a female official was sanctioned for engaging in private litigation activities during her working hours without the corresponding authorization. Additionally, four officials from the University of Panama were sanctioned for proven acts of nepotism during the investigation. The National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (Antai) sanctioned eight public servants from different institutions after confirming violations of the Public Servant's Code of Ethics.
