Over 50,000 Teachers to be Trained to Transform Education in 2026

The Ministry of Education plans to train over 50,000 educators nationwide during the 'Summer 2026' training program. As part of the conclusion of the 'Train the Trainers' course, the first group of 1,150 facilitators will be responsible for instructing their fellow teachers. Since last June, the facilitators have been trained in areas such as curriculum redesign, with the goal of updating educational content from preschool to twelfth grade. This update aims to strengthen students' competencies in all areas and prepare them to face the present and future challenges. Ludolfo Herrera, the National Director of Professional Development, highlighted that the necessary knowledge is being provided to the facilitators before the start of the 'Summer 2026' training. He also explained that a specific number of facilitators will be assigned in each educational region, taking into account that the provinces of Chiriquí, Veraguas, and West Panama will concentrate the largest number of educators.
