Panama's President José Raúl Mulino backs the International Liberty Foundation forum in support of Latin American democracy.

The President of the Republic of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, held a meeting tonight with members of the International Liberty Foundation, where three former presidents and Ana Corina Sosa Machado, daughter of Venezuelan opposition leader Ana Corina Machado, participated. They will attend the "Development, Democracy, and Freedom in Ibero-America" forum, which will take place this Tuesday, November 25.

During the event, President Mulino highlighted, before former presidents Iván Duque of Colombia; Guillermo Lasso of Ecuador, and Jorge Quiroga of Bolivia, the importance of this meeting that "allows Panama to be seen as a meeting place for personalities like you".

At the same time, Mulino highlighted the participation of Ana Corina Machado's daughter in this meeting, whom he described as a heroine in the fight for a "democratic and free" Venezuela.

"In Panama, you have a venue to dialogue... to spread the issues inherent in democratic freedom, which is what this is all about, all these exercises that I greatly appreciate and value," stated the Panamanian president.

Mulino also referred to the geopolitical situation in the region and described the shift towards democracy, framed in respect for popular will, as positive.

"We have been through that and we know what that is, what Panama experienced from 1987 to 89," said Mulino, referring to the case of Venezuela. "We know what this ordeal means, at this crucial political moment in Venezuela, a peaceful transition must be made... I wish this with all my heart... rescuing the country costs a lot," reiterated Mulino, offering Panama's experience and support in favor of the Venezuelan people.

During this meeting, President Mulino was accompanied by the First Lady Maricel Cohen de Mulino, as well as the Ministers of Foreign Relations, Economy and Finance, and Commerce and Industries: Javier Martínez Acha, Felipe Chapman, and Julio Moltó, respectively.
