Director of the Penitentiary System Inspects Resocialization Programs in Three Centers
The inspection included an evaluation of the garden program at the Cefere and the carpentry and crafts workshops at the Llano Marín and Penonomé centers.
This program allows women deprived of liberty to learn to cultivate the land as a fundamental part of their training. Coordination with the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) seeks to optimize production and expand the range of agricultural training offered to this population.
Vocational Workshops in Coclé
The inspection tour continued in the penitentiary centers of Coclé. The visit is part of the periodic inspections carried out by the entity to supervise the resocialization programs developed nationwide. The main objective of these tours is to strengthen the programs that aim to promote labor skills and real opportunities for social reintegration for the prison population.
Evaluation of Productive Projects at Cefere
At Cefere, the inspection focused on the evaluation of the garden program. The director was accompanied by engineers from the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA), with the purpose of analyzing the current effectiveness of the garden and determining what other agricultural activities can be implemented.
In this workshop, unique pieces are made that are destined for sale at the "Bazar Los Retazos Tienen Magia". Additionally, he closely observed the craft projects developed by the women deprived of liberty, including cold ceramic work, and the making of seasonal items such as scapulars and Christmas keychains.
Finally, at the Penonomé Penitentiary Center, Director Torregroza toured the resocialization workshop, where he was able to verify the commitment and progress of the participants in the various training and productive activities, reaffirming the Directorate's focus on vocational training as a means of reintegration.
