Artist Valentino Freed, But Charged with Illegal Firearms Trafficking

Panamanian artist Valentino Batista, known as Valentino, has been released after being detained in connection with a violent incident. His lawyer claims his client had only a minor link to the found firearm. Valentino and three others are charged with public safety crimes. The artist denies involvement and asks not to associate his art with the situation.

Regarding the violent incident, Brown commented that his client “has no connection whatsoever.” According to Brown, his client has no restrictions on continuing his work as an artist. It is understood that the process is now open, and the investigation will continue its course. However, Valentino and the other three individuals were charged with alleged crimes against public safety, specifically for illegal possession and trafficking of firearms and explosives.

Joel Brown, the legal representative of the urban artist, explained that his client had “little connection” to the firearm found in the vehicle, which was rented by a third person who is not even linked to the case.

Valentino was apprehended along with three other individuals in the Santa Rita area, where a vehicle and a firearm were recovered following a citizen alert about a violent incident that resulted in one death and two injuries.

In this regard, he called on the media, which in his opinion have “besmirched” his client's image by stating that “he participated in a criminal act.”

The artist asked that his songs or his movement not be misinterpreted due to this type of situation.

“Thank God we are free,” were the words of Valentino Butcher Batista, known artistically as Valentino, after regaining his freedom for being allegedly linked to a “criminal act” that took place on Sunday in the Pacora district.

“No to violence!” Valentino expressed. “(…) I am a young dreamer, just like many, and who believes a lot in God, I do not support what is bad.”

At the guarantees control hearing, which took place on the afternoon of November 25 in the Accusatory Penal System (SPA) at Plaza Ágora, the precautionary measures of periodic reporting on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week, a prohibition on leaving the country, a ban on communicating with the other accused, and a prohibition from approaching Santa Rita de Pacora, the place where the event occurred for which the case was opened, were established.
