San Miguelito Mayor Changes Tender Date, Causing Confusion

The Municipality of San Miguelito confirmed today that the opening of bids for the best-value tender for waste collection will proceed as scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, December 19, in consensus with the Honorable Municipal Council.

According to the official statement, this decision aims to "guarantee transparency, respect for procedures, and citizen confidence in the district's public processes, reiterating that all will be done under current regulations and in the public interest."

However, this stance contradicts statements made by Mayor Irma Hernández herself this past Tuesday, who publicly announced that the tender would be postponed and that the new opening date would be moved to February 18.

In those statements, the mayor explained that the change was due to the need to give more time to interested companies, make adjustments to the tender specifications, and avoid errors that could jeopardize the process, noting that her administration seeks order and clarity in a highly scrutinized tender.

The contradiction between the mayor's verbal announcement and the municipality's official communication has caused confusion among participants and the community, who now await a clear and official definition on what the real opening date will be.

Meanwhile, the institutional message insists that the rules remain clear and the process continues, although the change of versions has put the situation under public scrutiny in San Miguelito.
