Chase involving deputy's vehicle in Panama

In the San Juan de Pacora area, at the entrance to the neighborhood located on the Pan-American Highway, police fired a warning shot into the air. However, the vehicle driver did not stop until 3.5 kilometers ahead, when he encountered a police roadblock. As officers approached the vehicle, they spotted several packages in the pickup truck's bed, while the driver neither lowered his window nor exited the cabin. Shortly after, the person at the wheel of the pickup got out and 'identified himself as the driver of a vehicle owned by Deputy Isaac Mosquera from the Darién province.' This incident raises questions, following the escape of Deputy Isaac Mosquera's driver in a pickup truck at a checkpoint in Las Garzas de Pacora, with the legislator on board, sparking a pursuit. According to the National Police in a statement, a black pickup truck without visible plates, coming from Darién, 'evaded police verification' and its driver fled, prompting officers to initiate a chase. 'If he wasn't carrying anything illegal, why did he flee?' Panama asks. Subsequently, the deputy lowered the passenger-side window and identified himself. When questioned about the missing license plates, the driver claimed it was to prevent them from being stolen. The police coordinated with the Public Ministry to search the vehicle, but as nothing illicit was found, they were 'allowed' to continue on their way.
