A moment of high tension occurred at a police checkpoint at the entrance of the Las Garzas district when a vehicle linked to Deputy Isaac Mosquera from the province of Darién was intercepted after evading a police verification, which led to a chase and a warning shot. According to official information, the vehicle, a black pickup truck coming from Darién, continued on its way, which prompted the units to initiate a pursuit. During the situation, officers fired a warning shot into the air, managing to stop the vehicle a few meters ahead. When the car was approached, the police observed several packages in the back. Initially, the driver did not lower the windows, but after being instructed, he did and explained that he was driving a vehicle owned by Deputy Isaac Mosquera. Seconds later, the deputy himself lowered the window and identified himself to the officers. The National Police reported that when asked about the missing license plate, the driver replied that it had been stolen. Deputy Mosquera recounted that the procedure lasted for more than two hours and that, despite correctly identifying himself as a deputy of the Republic, he experienced moments of high tension when he heard a shot. According to his testimony, he was surrounded by several unmarked vehicles and police patrols, which he described as a disproportionate action. He also denounced that during the operation, they attempted to forcibly remove one of his sons, a situation he said put his family's safety at risk. In response to the incident, the caucus of the 'Realizando Metas' party came forward with a statement expressing its total rejection of the events. The collective pointed out that, according to information circulating on social networks and local media, shots were fired even after the deputy had been fully identified. The party also indicated that after a search of the vehicle, nothing illegal was found, only gifts intended for mothers in the district, which, in their view, demonstrates an excessive measure. 'Realizando Metas' condemned any act of violence against citizens and demanded an immediate, thorough, and impartial investigation, as well as sanctions if any irregularity is confirmed.
