Panama Expresses Condolences to Switzerland Over Crans-Montana Tragedy

Panama expressed yesterday 'its deepest regret' over the fire at a bar in the Swiss locality of Crans-Montana, which left at least 40 dead and 115 injured, as well as its solidarity with the victims' families. 'Panama accompanies Switzerland at this time of pain and reiterates its support and closeness before such an irreparable loss,' stated a communique from the Panamanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which it extended the 'sincere condolences to the Government and people of the Swiss Confederation'. Swiss authorities have confirmed that forty people died early Thursday morning in the fire at the bar, known for having a very young clientele, in the ski resort of Crans-Montana, in the heart of the Swiss Alps. The Police of the canton of Valais specified that 115 people have been injured and that most of them are in critical condition, while some of the most serious cases of victims with very severe and extensive burns will be transferred to Germany, France, and Italy, which have offered their support to the Swiss government in the face of this tragedy.
