Former President of Panama Mireya Moscoso stated that she is very concerned about the situation in Venezuela following the arrest of dictator Nicolás Maduro. She explained that US President Donald Trump has outlined the steps to be taken in Venezuela, and she hopes this will become a reality soon, “because Venezuelans can’t take it anymore.” “Those who are away from their homeland want to return and for there to be democracy,” the member of the National Council on Foreign Relations stated. Moscoso said that “although Nicolás Maduro has been captured, the other members of his regime are still at large.” “The only step that has been taken is to remove Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores and send them to jail,” she stated. She also mentioned that she has exchanged information with opposition leader María Corina Machado, and things are not going very well; “the outlook is worrying.” “We are supporting everything that María Corina Machado tells us, what we can do, who to talk to, what message to send,” she said. The former president is convinced that things will change despite the current situation.
