Bernardo “Nando” Meneses, the former director of Ifarhu, will not be leaving prison for now. The Court of Appeals decided to uphold his detention after reviewing the appeal that sought his release. The judges stated that there are sufficient reasons for him to remain behind bars due to the severity of the embezzlement case he faces and the enormous damage of about 50 million dollars it allegedly caused to the institution. Meneses is also under provisional detention for another investigation into unjustified enrichment. The Prosecutor's Office made it clear that keeping him in prison is necessary for the investigation to proceed and for no one to be able to obstruct the process.
