Former Panamanian congresswoman Zulay Rodríguez is advocating that the cases reported against the digital media outlet Foco for alleged extortion and other crimes should not be subject to the statute of limitations. She stated that prosecutors are refusing to investigate, not calling witnesses, and deliberately delaying the files to let the cases expire. Rodríguez recalled the existence of recording 1056 from Operation Jericho, which allegedly reveals the outlet's extortion of a congressman. She also mentioned recent revelations by Karisma Karamañites about a supposed conspiracy involving Foco and Annette Planells to prevent current President Mulino's candidacy. Rodríguez has sent letters to the attorney general requesting audits of the prosecutors who dismissed cases against Foco, stating that her revelations have exposed their modus operandi and led to a US embassy campaign to strip Annette Planells of her anti-corruption champion award.
