Panama Government Closes Public Offices for Carnival

The Panamanian government has announced the closure of public offices for Carnival. Officials will work extra hours for 16 days to compensate for the holidays. Executive Decree No. 3, signed on Monday, orders the closure of all public and municipal offices on Monday, February 16, and Wednesday, February 18. Essential services such as hospitals, clinics, police, fire departments, and emergency services will remain operational. The Panama Metro, customs, immigration, and Tocumen International Airport will also continue to function. According to the decree, public employees must work one additional hour after their normal working schedule on 16 specific days between January and February to make up for the time off. Any hours not worked will be rescheduled.
